I was sent a new product to try developed in China. It is pedometer, sleep monitor and I think doesn’t something else. The instructions were so bad I couldn’t figure out how to use it. I was just interested in the pedometer part as I had gained weight due to lack of exercise and I hadn’t realized it. It took me one month trying a little each day to figure out this machine. After I figured it out, I found it to be a superior product to the most popular competitor Fit bit. The caompany that sent me the product could be number one but they still haven’t figured out how to write instructions. They are software engineers. It is not enough to invent something new if the instructions are not clear. Many times I have a new program and many times the instructions are inadequate. When I went to school learning to give directions for example which is like instructions was part of our education. I bought many cook books that also make the same mistake. If you know how to cook you don’t need detailed instructions. I picked up a cooking series by Time Life only because the instructions were so clear. Now my task will be to write instructions for this Chinese company’s new invention. Coming from an old generation where giving instructions was part of our education, I think I will be able to do a better job. Now to see if I’m successful or not!
